Borough Broth: turning founder stories and product PR into measurable growth
Borough Broth is a British, female-founded B Corp making nourishing organic bone broths from responsibly sourced ingredients – enabling home cooks to upgrade their meals.
It’s also a consumer brand with a genuinely compelling story: founder Ros Heathcote started the business from her kitchen following a health issue, before growing it into a multimillion-pound company stocked by major national retailers.
Our job was to make more people aware of both - and turn that visibility into meaningful commercial impact.
What we did
We created an integrated PR campaign that gave Borough Broth several different channels into the media.
Our approach combined:
High-profile founder interviews telling Ros’s entrepreneurial story
Targeted product placement programme
Trade coverage supporting major retail and business milestones
News-led storytelling around the brand’s nationwide retailer launches
Carefully timed promotional activity that converted media attention into website traffic
From Ros’s kitchen-table beginnings to Borough Broth securing £7.5m in investment from Piper, we secured founder profiles in The Sunday Times, The Sun, FMCG CEO and Food Manufacture.
Meanwhile, product coverage introduced the broths to health-conscious consumers through titles including British Vogue, Olive, Marie Claire and The London Standard.
We also made sure the brand was visible to retailers, buyers and the wider food industry. Its growth, product range and national retailer listings (Sainsbury’s and Tesco) both appeared across The Grocer, Food & Drink Network, FAB News and Food Manufacture.
The results
The ongoing campaign has delivered visibility across national, consumer and trade media - but the clearest proof came from what audiences did next:
Website traffic increased by 85% when The Sunday Times coverage landed - the brand’s highest-traffic weekend of the year to date
A coordinated 30% promotion helped turn that surge in awareness into immediate shopping activity
Coverage spanned influential national, lifestyle, wellness, food and grocery titles
Founder storytelling built credibility around the person and purpose behind the products
Retail coverage strengthened Borough Broth’s profile among buyers and industry decision-makers
This isn't coverage for coverage’s sake. By connecting an inspiring founder, a distinctive product and a growing consumer appetite for nourishing food, we helped Borough Broth reach the right people - and gave them a reason to act.
Proof that the best PR doesn’t just put a brand in the headlines. It brings people to buy.
